Brand, branding, brand identity.

Let’s not get them mixed up. Before going in-depth on how to approach these terms, we have to know what they are first. They’re all more than your logo, your social media feed, or your products.

1. BRAND

Your brand is the relationship you’ve built with your customers, the feeling you bring them, it’s the overarching story of your business, according to your clients.

A brand is a whole love affair. A brand is what clients will retain after buying and trying a product. A brand will be the word out there when someone is asked about your business and what you offer. Google? Very informative. Coca-Cola? Thirst-quenching. McDonald’s? Fast food.

So ask yourself: what do you want to be remembered for?

2. BRANDING

Your branding is how you put yourself out. How do you talk to your clients, how much exposure are you availing, what are you doing to get people to know you?

Branding is a whole process. It’s not just your presentation, but how you present. Branding is basically making a mark for yourself in the space that you’ve set your business in, and making sure that you stand out while still being consistent.

Now ponder: when was the last time you went out of your usual way? Did anyone recognize you?

3. BRAND IDENTITY

Your brand identity refers to the visual aspect of your business. Now this is where the usuals come in: color, logo, typography, voice. But beyond that, it’s also how all these materials imprint on your clients.What do your colors mean? How was your logo developed? The meanings behind your assets tell a story as much as what the eyes consume.

With a strong brand identity, you’ll always have a recall.

So keep in mind: your brand is between you and the people, your branding is something you build for yourself and the people, your brand identity is how you visually present yourself to the people.
